Wednesday November 23rd 2022

 There was a very pleasing roll-up of 18 players for tonight's event , we love even numbers!!

Carol Wakelin was drawn as the jackpot player, but with her first two matches ignominious defeats the piggy bank was safe yet again.

The final results were:

1st                          Gary Stavrou

2nd equal                Hammon Mans

                             Peter Voulgaris

 A robust group of 18 fronted up to tonight's competition , including one new player – welcome to Kathy Bakhsh.

 Jeremy Whitelaw was drawn as the jackpot  player, but even with a round one overwhelming victory, was not able to claim the goodies.

 The final results were:

 2nd                 David Reitzin

 3rd                  Antonio Andolfo

 4th                  Dilhun Akpinar & Sean Ghodsi tied

Wednesday November 9th 2022

 A very presentable 18 players arrived tonight – good to see the numbers stabilising.

The jackpot player was Peter Voulgaris who was left out of the major placings this week

 Final results were a little unusual:

1st =                     Malcolm Stradwick

1st =                      Gary Stavrou

3rd =                     David Reitzin

3rd =                     John Symon

Whatever Sean Ghodsi intends to do with that chequer, John Symon thinks its wrong - please note the tee shirt!.

The battle of the shirts - Adam Makda and Rafael Chattah  brighten up the room.

Our resident comedian on the camera, John Symon reduces Carol Wakelin and Adam Makda to hysterics with a  snappy one liner at Adams expense - at least he took the joke well!

Wednesday November 2nd 2022

 The first Wednesday of another new month saw a rise in numbers with 17 players checking in, maybe in hope of scoring a free ride as player of the month, but that honour went to Hammon Mans, who, as he was absent, misses out on the freebie!

The jackpot player was Jim Bean who made in into the placings but not in the right spot to claim the cash.

Relative newcomer Sean Ghodsi got the Giantslayer spot – more on the results later in the month.

Final results were:

!st           Peter Voulgaris

2nd          David Reitzin

3rd           Dilhun Akpinar

4th           Jim Bean

Wednesday October 26th 2022

 A very select little group of 15 arrived for tonight's competition – maybe the sight of sunshine encouraged the rest of our group to stay outdoors!

Peter Voulgaris was drawn as the jackpot player, and, for the first time in many months, the stars aligned and the jackpot was “scooped”!!

Well done Peter !

This month's Giantslayer match upset the applecart with Dilhun Akpinar wresting 336 of Ladder Leader Gary Stavrou's hard-earned points. This allowed Adam Makda to nudge into the Ladder Leader position with the prospect of facing his own Giantslayer next month.

The full final results are as follows:

1st           Peter Voulgaris

2nd          Dilhun Akpinar and David Reitzin (tied)

4th          Jim Bean

See you all, and hopefully a few more , next week.

A busy match between Rafael Chattah and Adam Makda.

Angelo Voulgaris looks serious in his match against Jenny Saunders as Rafael Chattah looks on.

John Symon looks to consolidate his lead over Mohammad Nejati
as a thoughtful Amir Tehrani looks on.

Wednesday 19th October

Last weekend we ran the NSW Open Backgammon tournament. Our club did particularly well, our members taking four of the five prizes.

A good turnout of 20 players tonight including three brand new faces. We welcome to our happy family Sean Ghodsi (our Iranian cohort, wonderfully, keeps growing), Mohammed Ali (no, not the one you are thinking of) and Andrew Mowbray (a regular supporter of our major tournaments). John Symon was the drawn jackpot but failed to take the pot by just 8 points.

Results were:

1st Place Hammon Mans

2ns place John Symon

3rd Place Gary Stavrou

4th Place Mohammad Nejati and Sean Ghodsi (tied)

Sean Ghodsi and Hammon Mans seem deep in negotiations while Jim Bean awaits his opponent
